Programs
VetsBoats partners with boat-owners, the VA and non-profit organizations to deliver a healthy and rewarding experience on the water.
Veterans and their family members can engage at the level they need—whether that means a quiet change of scenery for individual reflection or stepping into a tight‑knit crew with clear roles, responsibility, and the chance to mentor others facing similar struggles. Over time, participants can move from first‑time guests to committed volunteers and champions for fellow veterans.
VetsBoats offers a continuum of experiences—day sails, seamanship and sail‑training, multi‑day voyages, and hands‑on restoration—that support both physical and mental health. Each program is designed to build social and technical skills, strengthen confidence and teamwork, and connect veterans with the resources and benefits they have earned through their service.

Just Add Salt Water
VetsBoats treats every outing as both a therapeutic experience and a learning opportunity. Veterans progress from basic seamanship and safety to advanced sail handling, navigation, and even skipper‑level leadership, mirroring the structure and purpose they knew in uniform. Curriculum is delivered through small‑group coaching on the water, classroom‑style briefings, and hands‑on restoration work, giving participants multiple paths to build confidence, skills, and credentials that carry into civilian life and future maritime opportunities.
Expanding Nationally
VetsBoats is growing from a single regional program into a coordinated national network of chapters, affiliates, and member boats so that veterans can find healing sails wherever they live. Each new location combines local maritime knowledge with VetsBoats’ shared safety, training, and impact standards, creating a familiar sense of mission, utility, and fellowship for veterans stepping aboard for the first time.
As we expand, veterans will have access to a broader range of experiences—from introductory wellness sails to advanced seamanship, tall‑ship training, and leadership roles within local crews. These opportunities allow participants to learn new skills, earn credentials, and become visible champions for their peers, sending ripples of resilience and connection through veteran communities across the country.
